Simon is married to Kate, and they have five children. The Walkers have lived in Bristol since 2004 when they moved here from West Sussex. Simon is originally from Yorkshire, Kate from London. They both became Christians when they were in their late teens. They met in Newcastle (they’ve been around a bit) where Simon trained for church leadership. They are both graduates of Newcastle University.
Simon leads the eldership team and is also the main Bible teacher in the church. Simon travels to India and the Middle East helping churches and training leaders. He is also involved in caring for and overseeing churches within the UK family of Newfrontiers. Simon has a desire to train and develop leaders and is often doing this both within City Church and amongst other churches.
Simon and Kate are passionate about Jesus, family life, the church and the nations. They long for the church to become all that Jesus has planned for it to be. They have a passion to see the church blessing the city of Bristol and loving the nations. They are West Wing addicts, love camping and enjoy a good single malt whiskey!
Ben is married to Jess and they have three children. They moved as a family to Bristol in summer 2014, for Ben to join the church staff team. Ben grew up in Bristol and Jess was from South-East London. They met when Ben moved to study graphic design at Goldsmiths College in London. They got married a few years later and Ben served for over 10 years on the team at King’s Church London, where he’d been the youth pastor, small groups pastor and then more recently led the Downham site when King’s became a multi-site church in 2011.
Ben oversees a number of key ministries within City Church, including children, youth, outreach, small groups and communications, and also leads worship and preaches regularly. Jess leads our 0-4s children’s programmes on a Sunday and helps out at our Little Elms toddler group.
Ben and Jess are passionate about building a church that reaches the whole of Bristol, and helping people become all that God wants them to be. They love music, films, hanging out with friends and bouncing on the trampoline with the kids.
Andy is married to Kate and they have three young children. Andy's been in Bristol and involved in City Church since August 2000 and Kate joined him when they got married in 2002.
Andy's the Head of a local Primary School and also overseas the fantastic Worship Team in the church. Kate helps to lead the Homework Help project which she really enjoys; before having children she was also a primary school teacher.
The Spens family love being in Bristol and can often be spotted mooching around Gloucester Rd, eating Pieminister Pies, drinking coffee, hunting for discounted food at the Co-op or playing in the park.
Stuart is married to Emma and they have 1 daughter and 3 sons. Stuart and Emma moved to Bristol at the end of their honeymoon when City Church started in 1997. Since then they have lived in Kingsdown, Bedminster, Knowle and Henleaze - with a few years with the church plant in Bath.
Stuart is a freelance design consultant with an entrepreneurial edge. Emma works at home looking after the family and keeping the Eggleston clan in check.
Together, Stuart and Emma oversee marriage preparation and support at City Church. They have a passion for marriage and family life and love spending time enjoying good food and wine as well as flexing their creative muscles.
