Babies & Kids (age 0–11 years)
We have had a bit of a baby boom at City Church! Here's a summary of the different groups meeting on Sundays.
Crèche provides a safe and stimulating environment for babies so parents can be released with peace of mind to fully engage in the Sunday morning service. We understand that being a parent is a wonderful privilege but also hard work!
We therefore aim to provide a nurturing and supportive community environment for parents including a sofa, breast feeding pillows, fellowship, informal support, prayer and tissues!
Candles is for toddlers under 3 where we have fun being part of the wider church family and begin to learn about Jesus through short stories and music. We have many engaging resources, games and toys including a small soft play area. A small snack is also provided.
We encourage an atmosphere which is inclusive and outreaching to new families whilst encouraging community between existing families and servers.
When your child turns 3 they can look forward to joining Sparklers. They will be in Sparklers up until the end of their Reception School year (so they get some consistency while they start school). In Sparklers there are craft and games as well as a chance to play and be with friends in the church. There is a Bible story often with actions and even acting out the parts.
Children get a growing sense of being with friends in the church family as well as having their eyes open to how big and wonderful the God who made everything is.
Dynamite is an explosive mix of fun games, lively worship, exciting Bible stories and messy craft for all children from Years 1 - Years 6. We learn about God, develop lasting friendships with each other, meet with Jesus and encounter the Holy Spirit. With sweets and prizes as well - don’t miss it!
Our children are an important part of who we are and we believe it’s important to provide activities that are fun and safe. We aim to see our future generations equipped and empowered in a relevant way to know and understand God’s love towards them and their friends.
We believe every young person was put on this earth for a reason.
One of the things we observed about Jesus was that He was passionate about serving and loving all in the community irrespective of background or upbringing. For this reason, we want our activities to be accessible to everyone, giving all an opportunity to explore the big questions of life and faith, should they wish to.
If you're in secondary school, you're welcome to come to anything and everything we run. Our Friday youth programme follows a monthly pattern:
Once a month we meet at the Elmgrove Centre in Redland for Friday Furnace, where we hang out and play games, worship God together and then hear a short Bible talk together.
Once a month we have our social events. In the past these have included things like going bowling, ice-skating, watching a film together or some other crazy fun activity.
The remaining two Fridays we meet in a house in the local area to spend time together and catch up. There is plenty of space to talk, ask questions and grow in your faith.
On Sundays the young people are in the service for worship and then will normally go out to their own group. We have tea, snacks and play games, then hear teaching on some of the core issues of the Christian faith and have time to discuss it. About once a month the young people stay in for the sermon, this is often when we have a guest speaker or baptism service.
