At Easter we celebrate the very heart of the gospel: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Think how the disciples must have felt - the sense of deep sorrow and loss as Jesus died on a Roman cross on Friday, and then the pure joy and dawning realisation on Sunday that Jesus was alive! Our faith is all about bringing our sin, our failures and our disappointments to Jesus at the cross and receiving resurrection life from Him. This is the hope we have and want to share with other people.
Over the next few weeks we have a number of great opportunities to share the love of God with people in the areas where we live. Firstly, our Easter Egg hunts are such a good invite for friends and neighbours who have younger children. These are fun events that build a sense of community and are a great opportunity to introduce people who aren’t part of our church to friends in our church community. And if you don’t have children yourself, you can still invite people or support or serve the event in some way yourself.
The Easter Egg hunts are taking place on:
Saturday 23rd March
COTHAM: 10.30am - 12pm in Cotham Gardens, BS6 6PR
FISHPONDS: 11am - 12pm at Chester Park Junior School, BS16 3NX
Saturday 30th March
BRADLEY STOKE: 1.30 - 2.30pm at Jubilee Green, BS32
At the Easter Egg hunts we will offer an easy next step for people to visit our church. Primary age children will be invited to the City Kids parties happening on Sunday 24th March at the Fishponds site and Sunday 31st March (Easter Sunday) at the Bradley Stoke and Cotham sites. Those respective Sundays will also have guest-friendly gospel messages and so would also be a good invite for adults who are interested to hear more about what we believe.
As we approach Easter, let’s be praying that as a whole church that we would be a blessing to the people and communities around us, and that many would experience something of the love of God or hear the wonderful message of the gospel.
