Update on Hope into Action House

We launched the dream of a low support house at City Church in January 2024 and asked for investors who would purchase a property. Currently we have 3 investors with a total of £150K promised. We probably need nearer £400,000 to reach our goal!

This house is our first step in addressing the City’s challenge to breakdown the barrier that prevents disadvantaged people from getting safe, affordable housing.  We are working in partnership with the Bristol charity 'In Hope' which is the franchise holder for a national charity called 'Hope into Action'.

Cathy Knowles (part of City Church, Bradley Stoke) works with all the investors who will then purchase the property together. The investors retain their share in the property and receive an annual return on their investment. Please contact Cathy on Cathy.Knowles@hopeintoaction.org.uk for more information.

At the end of July the City Church social action team called the whole church to join us in a day of prayer and fasting to see a breakthrough. We prayed:

  1. For financial investment in the house – for the next £250,000, but also to release significant finances for many houses like this in the city.

  2. That we’d find a great house in the City of Bristol – we want a great house that meets planning requirements for a house of multiple occupancy.

  3. For residents who will live in the house – praying for the right people who will benefit from this house.

The exciting news is there has been some progress since the day of prayer and hopefully soon we’ll be able to update with more details.

We are trusting that God would unlock this situation quickly. When I started a housing project in London the first house took much longer than expected but the next 5 houses arrived quickly afterwards. I am praying that as we battle for the first house in prayer that we are also paving the way in the city for many houses.  And ultimately allowing the kingdom of God to shine – to make Bristol a City of Hope!
